Script Analysis Class w/ Ashley LeConte Campbell

Script Analysis Workshop for Film and TV

Saturday, April 2 / 10a-5p / $100 / Atlanta

This workshop answers the question – “What are the things should I do when I get my sides/script?”….since we all know that memorizing our lines is NOT the answer! Our February workshop filled up quickly, so we are offering a second workshop in April!

This class is for seasoned actors who have been looking for a new class to help them continue to progress and stay sharp — and for newer actors who are still getting a foundation.

In this 7 hour workshop we will:
– Breakdown sides from Film/TV projects that have been shooting here in the South
– Review the elements of creating your character from clues in the script (objective, obstacles, environment, history, etc)
– Watch short video clips of LA casting directors/actors/coaches reiterating these exact techniques for creating a character and booking larger roles
– Participate in exercises throughout the day that put to use the things we are learning as the day progresses

The workshop’s host, Ashley LeConte Campbell, is an Atlanta actress who is currently training with Los Angeles acting coach Crystal Carson. Actors who have studied with Margie Haber, Crystal Carson, Ivana Chubbuck, or Larry Moss will recognize familiar themes.  This workshop has been put together from notes taken from these coaches’ classes, videos, books, etc., (and are not just Ashley’s personal opinions!), so it teaches many of the elements of creating characters that Los Angeles directors/producers expect to see in an actor’s audition and performance.

To register: Send payment via Paypal.com to the email address campbal at charter dot net (spelled out to prevent phishing) to reserve your spot. An email will be sent to you confirming that your spot in the workshop is saved. Location: Creative Studios, 500 Bishop St., NW, Atlanta, 30318. We will break for 1 hour for lunch. For ages 15 and older.

(We plan to take this workshop to other Southeastern cities outside the Atlanta area, too! If you have an interest in our coming to your city, please contact us at the email address above.)

Tyler Perry – A big influence on … everyone

Thought you’d all be interested to see this forward from Craig Miller with GPP about Tyler Perry making Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 05/02/08     By Bob Longino
What does Tyler Perry have in common with President Bush, the Dalai Lama, Rupert Murdoch, Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain?
In Time magazine’s estimation: world influence.
Atlanta’s top movie mogul is among the artists and entertainers named Thursday to Time’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
Actor Rockmond Dunbar, who recently completed filming “Tyler Perry’s the Family That Preys” in Atlanta and who is directing and co-starring in his own film, “Pastor Brown,” in Decatur, said Perry has been a huge inspiration for African-Americans.
“He’s really stepped out of the box,” Dunbar said. “He’s all about ‘Hey, let’s do it. Let’s tell a good story. Let’s uplift our people. Let’s uplift humanity. Let’s entertain.’ And when Hollywood said there’s no market for that, he just broke it. He said, ‘Yes there is and I’ll show you where.’ ”
Once homeless and so poor he had to live in his car, Perry, 38, is known for inspirational stories and donning drag to play the crotchety, tough-talking signature character, Madea, in his hit films and stage plays.
In an e-mail, Perry’s publicist Keleigh Thomas said the filmmaker was “not commenting,” adding that the honor “speaks for itself.”

Chez Studios Offers Class w/ Shannon Eubanks & Steve Coulter

The next Chez Studio Adult Workshop will be held on May 17 & 18, 2008.  With the anticipation of more work in Georgia, and our region in general, we remain dedicated to enhancing our talent pool.  We need actors who can create roles as diversified as the movies that are filmed here – all ages, all types.

Shannon Eubanks & Steve Coulter will work with actors to create the skills needed for cold readings as well as script development.  The opportunity to work with such experienced instructors is very special for our community.  Actors who have been a part of this program have truly benefited.  Many have received more call-backs and bookings as a direct result of training with Chez Studio.

For those whose plans include being an LA actor, this program can be the bridge to achieve that goal.  Chez Studio instructors are not only working actors, directors, and industry leaders in Georgia, but have worked – and are working – in the LA market.  Their combined credits place them among the most respected members of the entertainment industry.

Come be part of ATLANTA’S WORKING ACTORS on Saturday, May 17 & Sunday, May 18, 2008.
