“I decided to focus on what work is available to children in this market. I then put together a week dedicated to training the children in commercials, monologues / theater, film / television, script-critique, auditioning, improvisational acting, voice-over technique, and more… ” Young Performers Summer “Acting” Camps was developed for the serious actor between 7 to 17 years of age. “As a Casting Director, I see children with enormous amounts of potential, yet there’s little training available that’s focused enough to discover and develop it”.

The Man Who Came to Dinner
by Moss Hart & George S. Kaufman
September 6-23, 2012
Two decades ago, Georgia Ensemble Theatre opened its doors with the classic Kaufman & Hart comedy, You Can’t Take It With You. Now, 20 years and more than 100 productions later, we bring back another work from this great comedy writing duo as we launch our Emerald Anniversary with one of the most epic and clever American comedies to ever take the stage. The Man Who Came to Dinner will be brought to you with a cast of over 25, including GET favorites from the 2012 hit show Becky’s New Car: Wendy Melkonian and Allan Edwards.  You’ll meet the irascible arts critic Sheridan Whiteside as he pays a visit to the Stanley household where Marx Brothers-like madness ensues with secretaries, ex-cons, cockroaches and penguins!

A Taffeta Christmas
by Rick Lewis
November 8-18, 2012
We usher in the holidays with a double does of festivities.  A Taffeta Christmas played to sold-out houses ten years ago, and has been one of our most requested shows in recent years at GET.  Now Donna, Kaye, Peggy, and Cheryl return to their hometown for a Christmas performance of holiday classics, pop standards and newly discovered rock and roll holiday songs that will have audiences singing along with this high energy 1950’s girl harmony group.  HOLIDAY BONUS: Roswell Dance Theatre joins GET’s 20th anniversary celebration by reserving prime center seating for select performances of The Nutcracker at a special reduced rate just for GET subscribers!

Swell Party
by Topher Payne
January 10-27, 2013
Popular Atlanta playwright Topher Payne returns on the heels of his widely embraced 2011 GET hit Tokens of Affection.  GET has exclusively commissioned this comedy especially for our patrons. Tobacco heir Smith Reynolds returns from a New York vacation to his North Carolina estate with a surprise souvenir: a wife. The new Mrs. Reynolds is a popular jazz singer, a dozen years older than Smith, and arrives with a carload of gin and a certifiably insane acting coach.  A wedding party is flat-out ruined when the groom turns up dead.  As the guests gather to reconstruct the evening’s events and try to solve the mystery, it becomes clear that for Southerners, the truth isn’t nearly as important as a good story.

Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Suicide Club
by Jeffrey Hatcher
February 28-March 17, 2013
Behind the impressive facade of a windowless house, some of Europe’s most powerful men gather to play a game.  The game is Murder, and this is The Suicide Club.  But the Club has a new member: Sherlock Homes – brilliant, perceptive, the greatest detective in the English-speaking world.  Does Holmes want to die? Or is some other game afoot as he and Watson always seem one step behind, as the corpses of Europe’s power players start turning up all over London. This beguiling thriller brings the famous detective fully alive on our stage with a tale filled with endless mystery, twists, and chills in this sharp and clever brand new Holmes adventure.

Hello, Dolly!
by Jerry Herman & Michael Stewart
April 11-28, 2013
Georgia Ensemble Theatre’s blockbuster season finale brings you our first-ever classic Broadway musical. This memorable musical based on Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker regales us with the heart-warming story of life’s second chances as maneuvered by the indomitable Dolly Levi, who states in her daily code, “Some people paint, some sew … I meddle.”  The winner of no less than 10 Tony Awards, we invite you to join us on this whirlwind race around New York with this musical featuring some of the most beloved songs of all time, including “Before the Parade Passes By,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” and of course the all-time favorite, “Hello, Dolly.”
2012-2013 Season Subscriptions are available now by calling the Box Office at 770-641-1260. GET is also making a Family Flex Pass available this season which offers tickets to the Theatre’s youth productions of Aesop’s Fables, James and the Giant Peach, and And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank.
