We will have a “Business of Acting Seminar” for parents Saturday, April 16th during class time covering headshots, resume’s, agents, auditions, and more, and you’ll be given materials to take home with you.  Della & Bob will answer your questions about supporting your child or teen in their pursuit of an acting career, if that is their goal.  Even if they’re not sure, this is valuable info just in case they decide later to seek representation and begin auditioning.  It can provide some extra income for their college fund!

Our 4-month Winter/Spring session will end Saturday, April 30th, when the parents will join a visiting agent in the Theatre to view taped scenes, improv, and scenes performed live onstage!  Our visiting agent for the kids from 10am-noon will be agent Jen Kelley from Hot Shot Kids, and the teens will be given feedback by agent Barbara Garvey of Coastal Talent Kids/Teens from 1-3pm.

NOTE: We only have a few weeks left to prepare the kids, so please help them by making sure they have lines memorized and that they communicate with us and their scene partner about any concerns they may have, or any absences.  We want them to do their best!

For the first time, our Gwinnett Branch kids & teens will be traveling to our Decatur Location from 4-6pm, where instructor Nicky Buggs will host agent Gerra Avery of Avery Sisters Entertainment.  For more info on our program in Sugar Hill, visit our website or call 678.400.0091.

The Summer 4-Month Session begins May 7 and runs through August 27, skipping May 28 (Memorial Day Weekend) and July 2 (Independence Day Weekend).  The total number of Saturdays is 15, and the cost is $120/month.

There is a one-time fee of $60 for new students, who must take a one-hour private Intro to On-Camera Acting class before starting the regular Saturday classes.  Call 404-499-9996 or email dellabob@youract.tv to schedule.

Taught by Della Cole
Includes a V-O Demo MP3!

We’ve all heard that magical voice behind a TV commercial, or a radio spot that compels us to buy a product!  It sounds as if it were so easy to do when we hear it, but the fact is…it takes skill and practice.  This workshop teaches kids the tools and techniques of voice over.  OPEN TO 4TH – 8TH GRADERS ONLY.

As head of the voice-over department with one of Atlanta’s top agencies, Della enjoyed booking talent for this challenging, fun and rewarding area of the business.  She now offers her knowledge and experience to kids.

In this 6 week class, Kids will learn:

*Microphone technique
*Enunciation and delivery (how to bring it off the page and deliver in ideas)
*Reading with inflection to sound natural and conversational
*Pacing and how to approach the different styles of commercials

Within a few weeks of the 6-week session, students will receive an edited 60 second Demo MP3, suitable to upload to their agent’s website, or to email to an agent or production company, as well as family & friends!

We have scheduled the workshops so kids can take them without having to drop out of their regular Saturday classes. (Teens will need to schedule private sessions to record a demo.)
6 Saturdays, 1-3pm, May 7, 14, 21 and June 4, 11& 18

ONE DAY ONLY!  Saturday, April 16 from 1 to 4pm

Margie Haber’s Audition Technique Seminar for Teens & Adults (13 & up)!
Wednesday, April 27th from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

An introduction to Margie Haber’s philosophy and audition technique, this 3-hour seminar gives actors an opportunity to learn to breakdown the “slices of life” instinctively and physically, rather than intellectually.  Her 10-step method and phrase technique (using the paper without losing your life) from her successful book, How to get the Part Without Falling Apart, is shared in this seminar with actors of all levels of experience.  Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate or an advanced actor, you will learn to stop acting and live the life of the person.

Margie will choose actors from the seminar to come up and do a cold reading while others from the group will learn from her valuable feedback. She teaches this seminar all over the world, which gives actors an affordable taste of her 3-day Advanced On-Camera Intensive for Teens in Los Angeles.

Only $85!! To enroll in Margie Haber’s seminar for teens in Atlanta, please call Margie Haber Studio in Los Angeles at 310-854-0870.

Margie has coached A-list talent including: Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Vince Vaughan, Mariska Hargitay, Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin, Rick Springfield, Kelly Preston, Heather Locklear, Micah Sloat (Paranormal Activity), Haaz Sleiman, (2008 Spirit Award Nominee for The Visitor), Colin Egglesfield (of the upcoming Kate Hudson film, Something Borrowed) and the list goes on and on…

yourACT Atlanta has been chosen as the only studio to have an affiliation with the prestigious Margie Haber Studio, voted the Backstage 2009 & 2010 Reader’s Choice Award for Favorite Cold Reading/Audition Class in Los Angeles.  Margie only comes to Atlanta once or twice a year – this is one class not to be missed!

Special Summer Program – SKETCHTEENS!

So, you think you’re funny, kid?  Back by popular demand, Sketchworks resurrects its summer workshop for Teens, ages 13-18. In this intensive eight week course, students explore character development, learn comedic timing, and discover the essence of ‘truth in comedy’.

Each Saturday afternoon class serves as a rehearsal for a live, two night performance of an original scripted sketch comedy show, aimed specifically at the humor, sensibilities, and concerns of teens. The Showcase is performed in front of a live audience, onstage in the Sketchworks Theatre, and is always a sell out – giving students beneficial live performance experience.

The course is taught by long-time Sketchworks main stage regulars and producers, Bob Harter and Mike Stiles. Prolific working actors and directors, they guide students from initial character development, script analysis and finding the humor, all the way through an exciting live performance.

Strict limit of ten students, for the perfect cast!
