Atlanta Ballet presents THE MAN IN BLACK: ALSO FEATURING 1ST FLASH AND MOMENTS OF DIS
James Kudelka’s The Man in Black delivers imaginative choreography over hits and hidden gems by rockabilly legend Johnny Cash. Jorma Elo’s ultra-modern 1st Flash astonishes with speed and athleticism and demonstrates why he was singled out as a “talent to follow” in The New York Times’ Year in Review. In Moments of Dis, Atlanta-based choreographer Juel Lane examines the implications of the prefix “dis”: Sometimes we become disillusioned, disrespectful, or dishonest with our personal choices in life. When we start to discern what is the truth, we can truly explore and manage our psyche.

Taught by Della Cole
This Intensive course is designed for trained actors who have some audition experience.
As professional actors, we often audition and work on projects that don’t necessarily challenge the full spectrum of our talents. You may be comfortable with industrials, commercials, and voice-over but fall apart when you audition for a film. With the increase of film and television coming to Georgia, now more than ever, Atlanta talent needs to be ready for Hollywood auditions.
In this Intensive, using the “Haber Audition Technique”, actors work with film and television scripts, learning how to nail the audition in a limited amount of time. The focus is on the nuts and bolts of breaking down a scene, including relationship, intention, history, opening and closing beats, core and masking. Using the skills you learn will greatly improve your audition skills. This valuable cold-reading technique works.
of Houghton Talent Sally Neal, voiceover agent of Houghton Talent has this to say: “A voice is just a voice until you add personality and a true understanding of what you are saying and why… It’s the reason producers will choose one voice over another.”
Break down the copy you are given. Look at it from the producer’s and writer’s point of view. Figure out who the target audience is. Determine why your style/voice has been asked to audition the copy. Then deliver the script in the most effective way to promote interest in the product. If you do it, you will book the jobs!
Come and learn this important information!
ONE DAY ONLY, 1-3pm, Saturday, February 11 - Only $99!
I will appear in a Superbowl commercial which is a promo for “America’s Got Talent” with Howard Stern. I play an NBC Executive.
Also, I recently appeared on the new daytime show, “The Revolution” as myself, representing women in their fifties speaking on breast health dated January 18th.
[Editor's note: And that's not all!]
I was also upgraded from an extra to a prinipal in the latest “Bourne” film entitled “Bourne Legacy”? to be releasesd later this year. I play a TSA agent beside Rachel Weitz and Ed Norton.
All of this is possible beacuse of the jump start in my acting training that I received from Della Cole and Bob Harter at yourACT Acting Studios. I moved back to NY and within a year I became SAG and AFTRA. Thanks for the love, hard knocks and most of all, “The Truth” about acting.
Love you guys!

Many, many thanks to Stephen Caudill who worked tirelessly to produce the all-NEW yourACT website!!
Take some time to surf the new site and check it out. There is a section called “The Buzz” where you will find quotes from Talent (maybe even YOU if you answered our recent survey) and from Industry Pros about their experiences at yourACT.
Missed the Survey? That’s OK. There is a link there to send us an email with your quote and headshot. We’ll be rotating out the quotes from time, so if you sent one in for the survey and don’t see it there, don’t despair. Eventually we’ll get around to you.
One example:
On par with my New York and California training. And with so much laughter! I highly recommend yourACT – 100% professional- they know what they’re doing. Mary K Shaw
We were absolutely blown away by the tremendous response and the wonderful things you had to say. It makes what we do here all worthwhile. A heartfelt thank you to ALL of you!
During this 6 week course, you will learn how to strengthen your auditions and further your career as an actor. You will work on TV and film sides from past and presently shooting productions as well as cold reads. Working Casting professional, Shira Sandler, will give you personal feedback and answer all of your questions on auditioning, the business of acting, and what Casting Directors really think. Each class will be broken into two segments: working on your feet and questions/discussion.
Shira Sandler has amassed many professional credits in theatre, film and TV casting over the past seven years. This was a natural progression from her total immersion in acting and the performing arts since she was a small child. A graduate of Bard College, Shira received her B.A. in Theatre.
While living in New York City, she worked with such casting offices as: The Manhattan Theatre Club (on and off Broadway productions), ABC Primetime Television, Nickelodeon, Grant Wilfley Casting and Ellen Chenoweth. She has also assisted and led the casting on numerous independent films and shorts.
Beyond casting, Shira has managed high profile talent on both the East and West Coasts.
Upon moving to Atlanta over a year ago, Ms. Sandler joined Fincannon and Associates as a Casting Associate. Her many projects have included Joyful Noise, Drop Dead Diva, Necessary Roughness, The Goats, and GI JOE 2. She looks forward to her upcoming seasons work on Drop Dead Diva and Necessary Roughness, as well as the many other projects that will soon begin production in Atlanta.
VOICE-OVER DEMO WORKSHOP
This 6-week workshop is dedicated to producing a professionally edited 60 second Voice-Over demo, suitable to upload to your agent’s website, mail to production companies, or to submit by email as an MP3.
This comprehensive Voice-Over workshop is led by Grammy winning producer and engineer, Matt Still.
Matt is a Grammy winning producer & engineer with over 20 years of experience. He is a life-long musician who started studying classical piano at the age of four and could read music before he could read a book.
Along with working in the music industry, Matt also lends his talents to the world of post-production. He has recorded and mixed over a thousand radio and TV commercials throughout his career. Clients like Coca Cola, Nike, Mercedes, Cartoon Network, and The Georgia Lottery have all raved about Matt’s work.
He’s even been known to step behind the microphone as a voiceover talent.

Ryan is happy to be back at Agatha’s, and he’s even happier that he gets to do a show about hair. Mostly because he’s losing his and it’s just good to think about “the good ‘ol days.” Come see Ryan do a show about hair, and then look at his head and sigh. It’s what he does.
Tara Ochs
Tara is back at Agatha’s after a year of performing elsewhere. Mostly on cruise ships. But she wants everyone to know that she was NOT the one that caused the accident in Italy…she hopes. Fingers crossed, after the investigation.
Emily Turner
Emily has spent a lot of time researching her roles for this show. She got in fights with her hairdressers, her family, her brother’s family, the cops, the cops’ family, and finally, a priest. But that last one wasn’t her fault.
Emilio Perey
Emilio has always wanted to do a show about hair. Because hair is his passion. It’s actually one of his MANY passions. His other passions include ironing, folding, dancing, movies…..and Cleveland. Don’t ask him why.

After a great Holiday Season, Agatha’s is going through somewhat of a transformation. After 24 years of putting reservations on notebook paper in a lose leaf binder we are hitting technology head-on, or maybe it’s hitting us head-on. Anywho, it’s a good thing for you, our wonderful customers. Now you will be able to book reservations online from our website. (It should be up and running by the time you get this email.) Our new system will have archivies as well, meaning all of your info will be securely saved after your initial online booking while streamlining the process if booking by phone. Larger parties, however, will still have to book by phone with Rick or Cat. Sameday bookings, (24hrs) and bookings more than 30 days out will have to book by phone with one of us as well. Overall, this should prove to be a win win story for everyone. (Even though Cat hates it already.) We are also upgrading our website! Not only online reservations, but more information about us and our awesome troupe of Actors. Including up to date bios and pics. Some new videos with a little Agatha’s history and clips from a couple of our shows. Be sure to book your reservations, online of course, soon.Fondly,All of us at Agatha’s

The Cast of “Yes Virginia, Someone Killed SantaClaus”
Opening Thursday, November 3rd Running Until Wednesday, January 11th, 2012
Ryan Girard
It’s Ryan’s favorite time of year! The sights, the sounds, the smells! Of course he’s talking about the one time he allows himself to see his family. Man, the smells. He also enjoys getting to spread a little holiday cheer here at Agatha’s! In fact, this year he actually wrote, directed, and stars in this show. So either he will feel totally validated at the end of the show, or he’ll be crushed and you’ll never hear from him again. Either way, it should be fun to watch. Come on out and cheer for him, or boo him completely, you are in charge of his destiny.
Katie Kneeland
Katie has had such a busy year acting, she filmed 4 movies, 2 commercials, and was, most importantly, featured in the local news! All except the local news was planned, and no matter what you might have seen, it wasn’t her fault and she would love to explain in more detail, but the lawyers have told her to wait until the hearing. But it’s the holidays! She’s so excited and would drive to your house and drag you down to see this show, if she were legally able to drive anymore. Again, she’ll tell you more after the hearing. So come on down to Agatha’s and see her, because she legally can’t come to you.
Daniel Triandiflou
Dan has one word for the holidays. It’s not a big word, it’s not a small word, it’s more a medium sized one. It encompasses everything he feels about the season. You know that feeling you get when you hear all the songs, and see all the decorations, and then head to the mall and go thru the traffic, and all the people at the mall? Yeah, that’s how he feels. And then you get to drive home, after spending hours at the mall, and you never really got that one gift that you were looking for, and the parking lot was crazy, and WHAT IS THAT GUY DOING IN MY LANE?!?!? Actually, now that he thinks about it all, he’d like to change his one word. It’s pretty short now. Come find out Dan’s word at Agatha’s this holiday season!
Amber Nash
It’s been over a year since Amber’s last show at Agatha’s. She was busy traveling the country promoting the animated series she’s on. It’s tough, ya know? To travel all over the country and talk about how you get to talk on television. Cuz that’s what she does, she just talks and then they record it, and then you get to hear it. It’s not like you even see her. And she doesn’t look like her character, but some people think she does. And she wants to set the record straight, she is not an animated character. She’s real! Come see how real she looks at Agatha’s for “Yes Virginia, Someone Killed Santa Claus!”

Hi. My name is Matthew Cornwell, and I’m an actor.
Doesn’t it sometimes feel like you need a 12-step program just to cope with being an actor?
I’ve only been in Atlanta for 11 years, but in that time it has been a constant struggle to not become jaded as an actor. Being an actor alone would be enough, but being on the other side of the camera only exacerbates the problem. I worked behind the camera at Houghton for a couple years, I’ve been teaching beginner actors for over 5 years, and I’ve even run casting sessions at Stilwell when Brian Beegle was sick. What I’ve seen from both sides of the industry often infuriates me, saddens me, frustrates me, and constantly makes me question whether any of it makes sense.
However, this past May, I finally figured out how to channel all that negative energy into something positive. My wife, Brooke Jaye Taylor, and I decided to create a web series about all the nonsense that happens in this industry. Initially it was meant to be an educational tool, but it quickly grew into more than that. We call it Becky & Barry, and we launched our first episode yesterday (9/15).
If you’re an actor, don’t just watch it for the entertainment value. Realize that everything you see is based on an anecdote from real life. In fact, through discussions with Brian Beegle and Kelly Tippens, we quickly realized that no idea was too far-fetched. And after getting a sneak preview of the series, MystieBuice gave us the perfect quote that sums up the series:
“It’s a ringside seat to the industry and all the lovable and maddening things in it.”
So enjoy the first episode (and many more to come) and share it with your actor friends, but ask yourself whether you are currently making the same mistakes as the actors you see in Becky & Barry:
So far, Season 6 is off to a great start! We had an amazing turn out for season auditions in August, Academy classes are merrily rolling along, No Shame Athens is a weekly highlight at Hendershots Coffee Bar and Huckleberry Finn will go into rehearsals soon!
We look forward to sharing this season of jubilant discovery with you. Don’t miss your chance to see our upcoming productions, enroll in our Academy classes, volunteer or donate. We exist because of your amazing generosity and support.
“Teaching Life Skills Through Stage Skills” continues! Session 2 will offer two classes. The six week session runs September 23-November 4 (No Class on October 28 due to Huckleberry Finn Performance).
Session 2, Class 1: Who’s Afraid of the Big, Bad Audition, a class on audition development and technique will be offered 9:00 AM-10:00 AM & 4:00 PM-5:00 PM on Friday’s. The goal of this class is for each student to gain a better understanding of the audition process, gain confidence and poise in an audition situation and leave this class with a polished, memorized piece or two to use in future auditions. This class will be taught by theatre professional, Danielle Bailey Miller.
Session 2, Class 2: Puppet Palooza! a fun, introductory class to puppetry performance and construction will be offered 10:00 AM-11:00 AM on Friday’s. This class will be taught by puppetry professional Charlotte House.
We also have an amazing fundraiser coming up! It is the 2011-2012 Bulldog Painting Auction featuring artist
Emily Hogan. There will be an unveiling at the opening of Huckleberry Finn. A total of six paintings will be up for auction. Three will be ready for the taking in December and the remaining three will be ready to go home with you at the close of the season in June 2012! Details to follow! Sneak Peek below…
